Food Network just recently held their 1st ever Food Network Awards last night. When I first heard about it I thought the network will be giving awards to their TV Chefs. I was hesitant about it coz I love all the FoodTV Chefs. I pretty much try to watch the shows all the time. I love getting inspirations from their dishes and learning new tricks from everyone. So how would they categorize who is better compare to the other chef? Well it turned out, they were recognizing foods/goodies/restaurant/etc.. outside the FoodTV network. Good thing this was the direction they went to because how else would I find out about Bacon of the Month Club? This particular food club won the Delectable Delivery of the Year. I mean who does not love Bacon? Like Emeril always say in his show, "Bacon Rules". So what would one get in joining the Bacon of the Month Club?
A different artisan bacon delivered to your door each month for 12 months • Informative notes on all bacon selections • Discounts on The Grateful Palate bacon products and bacons • Bacon of the Month Club Membership Card • The bacon strip–Our members only monthly bacon comic strip • The Bacon of the Month Club Pig Ballpoint Pen • A little Rubber Toy Pig • One free Bacon Tee-Shirt • A recipe each month using the bacon selected • Discounts on suggested wines and products in recipes • And–new for 2007–a pig nose!
Sounds good to me. :)

At $315.00 (US$) for the subscription which gets you 12 packs of bacon, one would be amiss without warning would be consumers that this tasty home delivery will cost nearly $27.00 (US$) per package of bacon. Now I love bacon just as much as anyone who hasn't caved to healthier eating, and I know some packs of gourmet bacon at the supermarket run nearly $10.00 a package, not to mention the bacon I get hand carved for me at my local Toronto Butcher runs me about the same. But bacon that costs $27 US dollars per package?
Even if that came with a dozen extra large Canadian Grad A eggs, 6 fresh baked English Muffins, a carton of fresh squeezed orange juice and the morning paper... I still can't get it to balance to $27.00 American.
So forgive me if I continue to love my gourmet bacon for less than 1/2 the price and do it through the convenience of my local market rather than from the mail slot in my Apartment Building's front lobby.
