Do you ever run out of such basics as cocktail sauce? Well, sometimes if you look around your cupboards and refrigerator you may find that you may actually have the ingredients on hand to create your own version of the item you need.
I was all ready to run to the store to get sauce for my shrimp appetizer when I had a brainstorm - wouldn't doctored up ketchup make an adequate substitution for what I needed?
Here's my version:
Cocktail Sauce (from SCRATCH!)
6 T. ketchup
2 T. horseradish
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. lemon juice
So, next time you think you have to rush to the store for a food item, take a look around, maybe you have just the ingredients you need to create your own version. You'll save time - and money!
Happy Cooking!

I'm not as inventive as you are (and I don't have items that most people think of as staples), but I have been desperate enough to dip shrimp in barbeque sauce. It was quite delish, actually.
