This is a third-hand verbal recipe -- I got it from my mom, who in turn got it from a teller at her bank. My mom was instantly a fan of this zesty addictive cheese spread when she tried it at a bank event (not sure what kind of bank event feeds it customers homemade food -- mine certainly doesn't) and converted me the first time I tried it. It's a great little snack while playing cards and is super easy and quick to make. You may want to double the recipe though -- your friends and family will scarf this down before you know it.
One package Neufchâtel style cream cheese (the soft, creamy kind)
1 cup of dried cranberries
zest and juice of 1 orange
1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
Allow cream cheese to come to room temperature. In a food processor, combine all ingredients until well-mixed. Refrigerate covered for an hour. Serve with assorted crackers. Watch disappear.
