Homemade Meatballs: Pastafarianism & Beyond

Some claim that the flying spaghetti monster touches them with it's noodley appendage. But for me, the real religious experience starts and ends with a good homemade meatball.

The last time I ate a homemade meatball I was in the home of my good friends the Porcellatos. Sim and Lisa are the kind of friends you know you'll have forever. They're intelligent, they laugh out loud, and you can taste that they love each other in every dish they put on the table. It's eight o'clock, I've been hungover all day, and I miss Lisa and Sim. It's a meatball and Meatballs night.

Ingredients
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage meat
1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup onion diced
2 cloves garlic diced
1 tsp salt
1tsp fresh oregano
1tsp fresh basil
1tbsp sugar
1tbsp nutmeg
1 egg beaten

Directions
1. MIX:Mix all ingredients together. Add water gradually. Mixture should be moist but not so that the meatballs fall apart.

2.FORM BALLS:Shape meatballs to desired size and place on a broiler pan. Broil until outside is slightly brown on one side and then turn and broil the other side.

3. SIMMER:When meatballs are browned, add to your favorite homemade spaghetti sauce and simmer for at least 20 min.
