I Could Eat Caramelized Onions Every Day

I really could. I love onions, in general, and when they're caramelized they sweeten ever so slightly...yum! If you ever want to dress up an entree or add some flavour to a side dish, chances are caramelizing onions is the way to go.

What is Caramelizing?

Well, it's a way of cooking the onions until they take on a caramel colour. Take a look at this caramelizing onions tutorial from AllRecipes.com. Notice the technique called deglazing. Deglazing is used when the onions start to stick to the pan. When this happens you add a bit of water and scrape the onions from the bottom of the pan. That's deglazing and you're on your way to being a chef...!
