Every year I tell myself that I'm going to conquer my fear and finally build a gingerbread house. Every year my fear wins and I end up not even trying. So this year, I promised myself I will make one. When the new issue of ALL YOU magazine made it to my house, I knew this year is the year. The magazine has pages of gingerbread houses. And the captions make it sound so easy but we all know it's not. I've seen elaborate gingerbread houses on FoodTV network to know it's not. But then again, maybe that's my problem. I'm thinking of a bigger picture when I should focus on the simple one since it's my first time. Friends have suggested using graham crackers and cake frosting. Well, that would certainly alleviate the pressure but I would like to make one with ginger bread, not graham crackers. BUT, I'm thinking of making 2. One will be from a kit and 1 will be made out of graham crackers and cake frosting. A kit? Well yes. I want to build a nice one. I have to rely on a kit for now. Maybe next year I'll bug my mother-in-law for her gingerbread recipe. Sounds fair?
The gingerbread house in the picture is from ALL You and it's called Tudor-Revival House. Instructions are posted at the magazine's website.
I'll post my creations here at FORKS. whether I'm successful or not, I'll share 'em with you. Let the adventure begins.. :)

M's family has been doing elaborate gingerbread trees for years. Last year was our first one and well, I wish we started simple. It was an 8 hour endeavor and it ruined the fun for us, at least for M. Hahaha.
