I'm the "Try Everything Once" Cook

A big hello from the East Coast! My name is Amy and I'm a new contributor to this great site. I see I'm in good company! I'm thrilled to finally have an outlet for my food obsessions; I'm sure my coworkers don't want to hear another meatloaf story for a long time.

My adventures in the kitchen started when I was about thirteen. My mom decided to go back to school and put me in charge of making supper every weeknight. Her only expectations were that I make a few Shake-n-Bake pork chops, but soon my creative side took over. It wasn't long before I was making gorgeous fresh stir-fries and rich creamy pasta dishes.

From those simple beginnings I've had a broad exposure to different foods. I've been a vegetarian, a vegan, and a raw foodist. I've cooked with simple ingredients from my back yard and exotic ingredients from around the world.

Currently my focus in the kitchen is trying to cook meals that are healthy but will also get a passing grade from my meat-and-potatoes spouse, and my changes-her-tastes-every-two-minutes daughter. Oh, and since I work a full time job I also try to get everything cooked in an hour or less. Talk about a challenge!
