Kitchen Tip #1: Freezing Berries

I've noticed that strawberries are a pretty good price at the grocery store these days. Remember to stock up if they go on sale. Don't be afraid to buy a bunch and freeze them. Later you can pull them out of the freezer frozen and throw them into the blender for a smoothie. Or you can thaw them and use them for dessert or on ice cream.

To freeze strawberries, or any kind of berries, place the washed and well-drained berries onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Spread them out in a single layer to prevent them from clumping together. Place the cookie sheet in the freezer. Once the berries are frozen, place them in freezer bags for later use. Don't forget to take the leafy portion out of the strawberries for added convenience.

I love filling my freezer with blueberries in July - to eat in December...
