Mandarin Orange-Sherry Grilled Pork

The mandarin orange part of the marinade for this grilled pork slices is actually from a bottle of Smirnoff :) . I've had one bottle leftover from a six pack for months being puched in the back of the fridge. I could never throw it away everytime I clean my fridge out coz I know I could use it for a marinade someday. When I was thinking of a marinade for dinner last Saturday I decided to finally open it. But of course I only had to use about 1/4 cup of it so the bottle is going back to it's lonely place in the frige, heh. Until I feel like experimenting again with alochol-induced grilled meat :) .

Experimenting with marinades is one of the best things that I look forward to when it's grilling season. As much as I love the convenience of store bought bottle concoctions, I love mixing my own.

INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup of mandarin orange Smirnoff
1/4 cup sherry wine
4 tbsp worcestershire sauce
4 tbsp soy sauce
sprinkle of garlic powder
sprinkle of crushed black peppercorns
sprinkle of dried parsley
a pinch red pepper flakes

Mix everything together. Add the slices of pork into the marinade. I used a pork roast actually. I just sliced the pork 1/4 inch or a little bit thicker. Marinate overnight or 2-4 hours before grilling.

Grill both sides.

By the way, if you have kids who are not into spicy food like myself, you can opt not to add red pepper flakes. I wanted a kick in my grilled pork so I added just a pinch. So the flavour is there but not to strong for my son to be suspicious ;) . Regarding the alcohol in the marinade, it'll be cooked into the meat once grilling so don't worry about getting yourself or your family members drunk :)
