Need to Perk Up Your Wine Selection For Easter Dinner?

Oh, yum! I just returned from a whirlwind of a trip to Kelowna, B.C. I haven't been to Kelowna in years, but I quickly learned that the Okanagan Valley, where Kelowna is located, is dotted with wineries galore. I made the most of my time and after visiting several wineries found my new favourite!

At St. Hubertus Vineyard I was given a taste of a 2006 Gamay Noir. I fell in love with it right away. Not being a huge wine connoisseur, I usually drink a White Zinfandel (blush). (Hey, it goes good with everything!) So, when I tasted this Gamay Noir there was no turning back! It's actually a rose, which is more substantial tasting than a blush. The vineyard employer at the vineyard (who's task was to get me drunk) described the Gamay Noir as fruity with some tannins and said it would go well with most any meal - cheese, game or succulent meat dishes.

There's no turning back, I'm pouring my bottles of White Zinfandel down the drain (or at least cooking with them!). Now I'm a Gamay Noir woman!

By the way, I'm also thinking the red that I sampled (and subsequently bought) was pretty amazing. It's called Northern Summer and it's going to go great with my Tuscan Lasagna! Woo-hoo! I've found my new hobby - drinking wine!
