Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter Recall

First it was the Spinach recall on September of 2006, then came the Lettuce recall on Oct. 9 2006, now it's the Peanut Butter recall specifically the Peter Pan and Great Value brand.

It is believed to be the first salmonella outbreak associated with peanut butter in U.S. history, said officials with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

About 20 percent of the 288 infected people have been hospitalized, but none has died, said Dr. Mike Lynch, a CDC epidemiologist.

Peter Pan is my favorite peanut butter brand. Although I'm not much of a peanut butter person, I enjoy a PBandJ sandwich once in a while. Not to mention the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies I bake for my son. This news is depressing but hey it's better to be safe than suffer from any of the salmonella effects that are listed here. So please folks, check your peanut butter jars for the 2111 product code and you might want to wait 'till this recall is lifted and FDA tells us it's safe to eat peanut butter again.
