Raspberries: Low in Calories, High in Nutrition

You know you're on to something good when it only has 50 calories a cup! Yep, that's right, one cup of raspberries has 50 calories!

One cup of raspberries has 70% of your daily Vitamin C requirements, and of course raspberries contain those ever popular antioxidants.

That's why, when my mom was wanting to get rid of her raspberry plants last year, I jumped in and rescued them. It's awesome having fruit growing in my yard, and raspberries require very little maintenance.(Which works for me!) I think they are a semi-weed. They spread easily and sprout up where you least expect to find them.

I do, however, need to go into my raspberry patch and thoroughly pick them twice a week for a good four weeks during the summer. I end up freezing alot of the raspberries to eat over the winter months.

The rest of the raspberries are eaten with a bit of cream and sugar, just the way I used to eat raspberries at my grandma and grandpa's house when I was a kid.(Hey, at 50 calories a cup, you can afford to add sugar and cream!)

Happy Cooking!
