The world’s most expensive sandwich

The worlds most expensive sandwich What would you expect on a sandwich that costs £85? (That’s U.S. $167.14).

While browsing through the food halls at Selfridges department store in London a couple years ago, looking for an inexpensive snack to hold me over until dinner, I came across the self-style world’s most expensive sandwich. Containing Wagyu beef(you know, from the Japanese cattle that receive massages and beer), fresh lobe foie gras, black truffle mayonnaise, brie de meaux, rocket, red pepper and mustard confit and English plum tomatoes, the sandwich is presented on a silver platter (literally) behind glass. I passed it by because I don’t like peppers and don’t eat meat. Oh, and because a sandwich that costs roughly 20 bucks a bite wasn’t in the trip budget.

Most of the ingredients don’t float my boat. If I were to consume the world’s most expensive sandwich, here’s what I would want:

-A perfect, fresh French baguette.
-A slathering of French butter.

OK, so far I’m up to about 2 bucks.

-An oozing creamy white French cheese.

And if we really want to kick up the dollar value I’d have to add some shaved white Alba truffle. Now we’re talking about a sandwich I could spend a chunk of change on.

What do you want on your sandwich?
