U-pick Berry Farms - Cut out the Middleman!

With the end of June fast approaching, it's almost time to start thinking about packing a picnic and heading out to one of the local u-pick berry farms. You can usually find strawberries, raspberries, and in my neck of the woods, saskatoon berries ripe for the picking during the summer.

Always call ahead to find out the availability of the fruit and what the hours are of the farm. Make sure to pack a cooler with ice to transport your fruit home, especially if it's a hot day. Dress comfortably and bring insect repellent.

Besides, growing your own fruit, there's nothing more satisfying than picking your own fruit. Of course, if you can round up the troops to help you pick your berries, than you'll have more to eat once you get home.

Happy Cooking,

- Lesli
